Welcome to Edition 25 of the complimentary FundBase newsletter and Happy first Birthday to FundBase.

Below are some exciting grants with upcoming deadlines.  To find funding to compliment these applicaitons, search FundBase now.


The Jobs Fund
The Jobs Fund is designed to support and create jobs and skills development through projects that build community and social infrastructure. The Jobs Fund will also invest in one-off capital projects to improve community infrastructure and will provide seed funding for social enterprises.

Funding will be in the form of one-off grants for projects up to $2 million, ready to commence from July 2009. Eligible organisations include non-profit and community organisations, employment services providers and local, state and territory governments.

The two streams of funding available in this round are:
1. $300 million Local Jobs stream to support community infrastructure projects with a focus on the promotion of environment-friendly technology and heritage
2. $ 200 million Get Communities Working stream for self-sustaining projects which create jobs and provide activities and services to improve community amenity
Priority will be given to projects in regions experiencing high levels of disadvantage and most affected by job losses.

The closing date is 22nd May 2009.


Women Sport Leadership Grants

The Grants help women to undertake accredited training and development in coaching, officiating, governance and sports management. These grants are aimed at providing women in sport with support and access to leadership training and development opportunities to assist in establishing them in the sport industry.

Successful applicants will receive a one-off Sport Leadership grant of up to $5000 for individuals and up to $10,000 for organisations. In addition to their identified projects, successful individual applicants are expected to attend a two day leadership workshop covering a range of leadership and development topics, including effective communication, conflict resolution and influencing change.

Applications close 11th May.


TQUAL
TQUAL Grants is a competitive merit-based funding program aimed at stimulating sustainable
growth in the Australian tourism industry. It will do this by supporting innovative, high quality
tourism products that contribute to the long-term economic development of Australia.

There are three categories of funding:
Category 1: Innovative Tourism Projects provides grants from $5,000 to $100,000 for private sector businesses, non-profit organisations, regional tourism or regional economic development organisations, local government agencies. Funding can be for on of the following: project initiation, project planning or project implementation.
Category 2: Integrated Tourism Development Projects aims to enhance the overall tourism appeal of a large area by encouraging inter-regional collaboration to achieve greater tourism benefits. Grants range from $100, 000 to $500,000. Projects funded under this category should be large scale, collaborative, multi-faceted activities that involve a number of regions. Applicants must be a regional tourism or regional economic development organisation, local government agency or non-profit organisation. There is a compulsory 10% cash contribution required.
Category 3: National or Sectoral Tourism Initiatives aims to provide strategic support to the Australian tourism industry by funding national or sectoral peak bodies to develop national projects that offer leadership to industry. Applicants eligible are national tourism peak bodies, national tourism industry associations or national tourism sectoral industry associations. Funding ranges from $25,000 to $500, 000.

Trust Company Philanthropic Services - General Funding

Every year Trust Company is proud to allocate funding to charities across Australia.The maximum amount you may apply for is $30,000. Applications can only be submitted during the month of June.
To be eligible to apply for a grant your organisation must be endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as a Tax Concession Charity (TCC). Please note that an ITEC (Income Tax Exempt Charity) endorsement is NOT sufficient and will not be accepted. Some of the charitable trusts administered by Trust Company can only make grants to organisations that are endorsed as both a TCC and a DGR.

Grants will generally be for a period of one year.

Applications for the following purposes will not be considered:
1. Deficit funding, i.e. repayment of loans, operating losses;
2. Non specific general fundraising capital appeals;
3. Retrospective funding for projects that have already been completed;
4. Establishment of an endowment fund or corpus for an organisation.

Preference will be given to organisations who do not receive regular distributions from a charitable trust administered by Trust Company.

Only organisations registered with AusAid will be considered if applying for grants for projects based outside of Australia.

The Climate Ready Program
The Climate Ready program is a competitive grants program providing grants on a matching funding basis to support research and development, proof-of-concept and early-stage commercialisation activities to develop solutions to climate change challenges.The program offers small grants ($50,000 to $500,000) and large grants ($500,001 to $5 million).

Climate Ready supports small and medium-sized businesses, as well as companies controlled by universities and public sector research organisations. Companies can apply for funding for any or all aspects of the development of an innovative product, process or service including research and development, proof-of-concept, and early-stage commercialisation.
