FundBase was launched in March 2008 following years of planning and development to make it the ideal tool for all fund seekers.
FundBase was started by, and is currently run by Stuart Reid and Sally Hunter who have each worked in the funding industry for more than ten years. It has been extensively tested by a panel of experts in funding, bringing decades of funding experience to play in the development of FundBase.
FundBase is the culmination of this experience, and direct knowledge of the limitations of other tools provided by government departments and some private companies. As a result FundBase is superior to any other funding or grants information tool in Australia.
Stuart Reid
Stuart holds several tertiary qualifications including: Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Economics, Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Commerce, Advanced Diploma in Business, Diploma of Export Management and a Certificate of Business in Regional Economic Development. Stuart has extensive experience in Community Economic Development and funding, having worked in senior positions within several community economic development agencies in Australia and Asia. He has been actively involved in several committees relating to community economic development, including assessment panels for funding programs. In addition to his role in FundBase Pty Ltd, Stuart is a director of two leading economic development and funding agencies – SRA Consulting Pty Ltd and FundAssist (Australia’s leading funding application writing agency).
For over 11 years he has written and reviewed hundreds of funding applications and submissions delivering tens of millions of dollars in funding to communities, businesses and individuals right across Australia. It is this extensive experience that created his passion for developing a user-friendly and cost-effective system to help people find funding for their projects and activities – and to his involvement in the development of FundBase. |

Sally Hunter
Sally Hunter completed her Business Degree from the University of Queensland in 1999 and has been working in the funding industry ever since. She also has a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, a Certificate in Extension, Rural Community Development and a Certificate IV in Conservation and Land Management. Sally was born and bred in Western Queensland and now lives in North West NSW with her husband and two children. She has a strong interest in supporting community organisations in the not-for-profit industry which has led her to her involvement with FundBase.
Sally has been searching for funding, securing it and acquitting successful grants for more than eight years which gives her an intimate and detailed understanding of what the grant seeker needs, and importantly, the information they don’t need.
Sally lives on a property and enjoys harvesting fresh (and bizarre) heirloom veggies from her garden and going for horse rides with her husband and two boys in between providing the most up to date funding information to FundBase subscribers. She organises her local playgroup, is secretary of the local polocrosse club, assists with local fundraising, is a member of two local hall committees and the local progress association. |
